GS9 club membership, or big discount on used Grand Seiko?

I have a chance to get a Grand Seiko SBGN021 with a nice discount used, or buy it new and get into GS9. For those who are members, is it worth paying retail, or is used the better approach?

The only thing you get by being in the GS9 Club is extra marketing emails! I mean, I love being in the GS9 Club, but that's only because I love getting marketing emails from brands I like. But, is it worth extra cold hard cash to get those emails? No!

That’s exactly what prompted this post! The deals are crazy good right now. For the money I planned to spend on a new SBGN027, I could get a used SBGA375, which is like a $5200 retail watch. Very hard to pass that up.

The White Birch is one of my grail watches. I tried it on at WOS in Las Vegas and instantly fell in love with it. Let the others chase after common SS sports watches - I'll take the fine craftsmanship of the Birch! Hope you get yours soon.

Have never seen it in person, and wouldn’t buy it without doing so, but as of now it’s definitely a grail.
