Automatic or (Meca)Quartz? At that price point an auto chrono will not be easy. If you can stretch around 500 more the Tissot PRX enters the arena. For anything else under 1000€ you've got the Seagull mvt based chronos, but I wouldn't spend 1000 on these (I own a 1963 btw). If Quartz is ok with you, then there are tons around: Seiko, Yema, Brew, etc.

I prefer quartz to be honest. What's the problem with quartz? I pay 20 euros for battery change and water proof seal..
