I think the whole rules thing is great at the beginning - especially to stop from spiraling out of control in this crazy broad world that is watches, but at the same time rules are meant to be broken 🤷🏻‍♂️

To start out my goal was having 5 watches, all with different complications, then that evolved into wanting to not repeat dial colors, now I want to experiment with other materials and shapes too - so I guess in the end my philosophy is about having a diverse collection that gives me as complete a window into the watch world as there is, but as simple as it sounds - the best collecting philosophy is to get watches that you enjoy 😊

Great pick, and it’s such a nice watch. Love what Tag Heuer have been doing in the last few years with the Carrera 👍🏼

I visit them whenever I see something interesting in the window - while it’s nowhere near as much as I look at Chrono24, it does help being able to go in and try something on for size - but I always make sure to not lead on the sales staff or give them any illusions I’m going to buy anything.

I’d say first and foremost it depends on you and your own style - if you can pull it off with confidence and an outfit that makes it work then no reason to steer clear of divers when dressing up.

Another thing is which diver it is - something like a Seamaster 300M or a Submariner will dress up with more ease than a Planet Ocean or a Deepsea Sea Dweller. I used to wear my 300M with a suit all the time, sometimes even *gasp* on a leather strap and it all worked out :)

If there had to be a rule to it, it should be if you can cover it up with your cuff then you can wear it to dressier occasions - that way even if it does feel inappropriate you can always hide it.

At first I thought yes, but then realized that after 3 years of watch collecting that I’d ended up with 3 variations on the 2892:

Cartier Pasha (Regular 2893)

Omega Seamaster 300M (Omega 2500 - ETA2892 modded with the coaxial)

Steinhart Ocean 1 GMT (ETA 2893 is just the 2892 with a GMT hand)

Conclusion - it matters a lot less than I thought 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ironically though, now 2 years later none of my watches’ movements are the same - but I can’t say that was on purpose either.

It’s something that it can call it’s own (especially when the older tudors had the Mercedes hands just like Rolex) On the divers I like it, but when I had a BB Chrono the chronograph was useless from 2-4 o’clock 😂
