Received this donor to practice modding on. First thing I noticed is it wasn't working so I replaced the battery and still nothing. What steps should I take to diagnose the issue? Anything some more experienced watch lovers see?
Lift up the straps and put another watch between them. Mod upgrades are severely limited to mostly the 82 series Citizen and the NH Seiko series. That movement is only worth a few bucks to replace but different hands will be a chore to find. On second look thats looks like an ETA 955.112 3 quartz. $35 bucks on ebay
either the coil or board is bad. Often though the stator motor jams up with debris(often rust) in early vintage quartz. I usually do a full service first and most of the time that works but besides that, with a quartz, finding a donor is usually the only way to deal.
Novice modder woth one bezel swap under my belt. Interested in learning about Seiko modding, dial swap, hand swap, and progressing from there. Goal is to complete a build. Looking forward to learning.
