Not only do I think the waffle looks better, but after trying a few versions of both (including the original ins tropic) my favorite has been without a doubt the uncle seiko waffle. It’s slender but solid, looks great, the short version is not too long for my 6.75in wrist, and most of all, the holes ares spaced wide enough that I was able to pop a new one in between the original holes for that perfect fit, always. Over a year of daily wear with the handmade holes and zero sign of it giving

I’d happily pay about 3-4 grand for an SKX recreation, same dial as the original 007, with an 8L movement, ever brilliant steel and uncle’s Z199 bracelet revival. Please do it Seiko, please. Same dimensions pleaaaase. As the Mad watch collector has said, I keep looking for the perfect watch, and every time every few days I wear my SKX, I realize that’s the perfect watch
A few weeks ago I tried on all the watches I had been considering for my first big purchase to celebrate a milestone: various SMP300 (at two different boutiques 😅, all the tudors possible, even messed around at Rolex with an explorer 40 and a datejust.)

Made me realize I’m probably not ready for a larger purchase, not just financially but from what I’m look for in a watch (wear anywhere, don’t worry about what locals or clients might think in my tiny coastal town I’m working in now, beat it to hell in the sea and off-road activities).
