I called Longines Canada and they have been very accommodating and helpful. They did confirm what you guys have stated: the L899.5 has anti-magnetic Silicium spring balance.

Try to ease her into it. You might be pleasantly surprised. That's what I did with my wife. She is now very interested in learning about watches and we frequently discuss that brand or that brand or this story about the other brand and so on. She has no issues with prices.
Hello. Not sure if this thread is relevant anymore, but here's my input:
- Both of them are gorgeous watches with lots of history and DNA.
- The Tudor is sportier and I can see it being worn mostly with a casual attire. Doesn't really go with anything more elegant.
- Omega is sort of a Jack of all trades here. it can a daily wearer as well as a dressier watch if need be.
I cannot say get this or get that. It's entirely up to you, but if it were me, I would choose the Omega.
