I didn't think it would happen like this

Over the years I have collected many things. Vehicles, guitars, basses, ukuleles, reel to reel tape machines, etc. Eventually I get to a place where I realize my grail and then start to pair back. I have always been fairly successful doing this (excluding guitars, because while you can have too many, it's hard to have enough).

With watches, it has been similar to guitars because I am learning as I go. I get to a place where I am content and then discover some new aspect of watches that intrigues me. When I joined WC and read responses to my introduction suggesting I would end up buying more watches (than I normally would) I thought not. I'll just buy what I'll buy and carry on. I am not one to drool and buy. I'll gladly look, like (drool), and move on. I can admire and appreciate watches just by looking, so seeing a member's new watch doesn't make want one too, it just makes me happy.

So what is the point of this post? Why didn't I think it would happen like this?

WRUW.

I think that participating in WRUW is going to be a catalyst for more purchases. Not what I expected. I think I am going to need to accept the fact that I will end up buying selling watches. To date, I have never sold a watch. That may have to change. It also means that I am going to have to start looking at used watches, which actually does align with my more recent interest in mechanical/hand-wind watches. At any rate, I am happy to be here. It's been a long time since I've belonged to a forum where I just devour content and look for more.

I also realized that my travel kit needs to increase. 😉 currently I travel with 3 watches, and I'm often gone for 4 or 5 days... so a travel case that holds 5 watches is on my ponder list now.

Cheers!
