Call me Scott. I am a watch enthusiast and by default someone who collects watches, not a watch collector though. ๐ I have watches from Accutron, Casio, Citizen, Fossil, Hamilton, Islander, & Orient, as well as some rando brands and gift watches.
Iโm equally enthusiastic about music gear, golf, wine & spirits.
My first watches were gifts from my mother. Later I got into buying my own, mostly Swatch, Fossil, Timex, and Casio. Fast forward a couple of decades I became inspired by seeing so many people looking at their phones to know the time. My "collecting" started with Citizen Eco-Drives and evolved into automatics.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
It was a Timex hand-wind. It was either a mickey mouse or a swirly colorful watch.... I wish I could find that one again.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I have a birth year Accutron. I had actually set out to buy a birth year Gibson acoustic guitar and was outbid at the last minute. The Accutron was my constellation prize.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
A) Yes, get into watches! B) Don't rush it. Get a watch you like, live with it for a while and you'll start to know what you want in a watch and what you don't.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Fortis - the new Fleiger is really attention getting.
Hamilton - I love field watches, Arabic numerals, and simplicity. Hand wind = love for me.
