Sam's Watch Review (Casio G-Shock GMA-S2100) Casioak Mini

How I Got It

This is the second watch I bought after I gifted my Apple Watch to my sister. I was looking for a beater since I have to work in the water a lot. I started to look for a a G-Shock of course. Came across this one here being sold way below retail and brand new. Being one of the most popular and sought out models for G-Shocks now, with the price tag way under retail I immediately purchased it without a second thought. It is worth every cents.

Build Materials & Appearance

Being a G-Shock, it of course has resin all over the watch. The Casioak Mini is a smaller version of the Casioak model GA-2100 and this one fits me perfectly for my 6 inch wrist. The version I have is a little but off white band and bezel. Red and blue writing all over the bezel and the dial. Dark grey dial with again the slight off white colour indices. It has a small day dial that is perfect for me, a small digital screen also with date and seconds function. It is a 'ana-digi' waych meaning a combination of analog and digital so it also has stopwatch, alarms and all that. It even has world time feature. The minute hands move every 20 seconds. It also has 200m water resistance which is so important for me. It uses mineral glass on top. It also have a white light that illuminates from the middle of the 4 and 5 hour mark. The light is bright enough to illuminate the whole dial.

Pros & Cons Starting with Cons then Pros

The only two cons I can think of for this watch. First is the battery life. It may hold on for 3-4 years. Maybe a bit longer maybe even less but yea I wish it could go at least 10 years. I also wish it has a sapphire glass since it is a G-Shock and supposedly be super durable. Mineral isn't going to cut it especially for the job I do.

While those are the only two cons I could find, there are just so many pros for this watch. The watch just wear so perfectly on my 6 inch wrist. It is super comfortable and super lightweight. The slight off white band, bezel and indices are so eye-catching that it looks so great no matter which angle you look at it. It even looks so good from afar. It has a great combo of being ana-digi. Great bright white light that illuminates the whole dial and a contrast dark grey dial for a face. Among all the Casioak and Casioak mini, this is my favourite factory version. Of course you can also customise it and make it look like AP Royal Oak cause that's where the name came from seeing the design took an inspiration from the Royal Oak.

Summary

I love this watch so much that I don't feel like wearing it while working in the water as much anymore cause I wanted to keep it as perfect as possible 😂. Can you imagine buying a watch to be a beater and end up taking care of it so it won't even have a single scratch on it. Overall, I am in love with it and that means I need another watch to be my new beater 😂. God tier!
