Need help with which SIZE Longines Spirit Zulu Time to order

My wife is on vacation in seoul korea right now and i asked her if she could buy me a Longines spirit zulu time. To let her have a say in the matter, i told her she could pick the dial color of the watch. Whichever dial color she chooses for me to wear. My dilemma is which size should i ask her to buy? I have a 7 inch / 18cm wrist and would love input from the community of Longines spirit zulu time owners or testers/reviewers which watch wore much better on you and what your wrist size is (most preferred if we have the same wrist size). I have a 42mm omega seamaster diver and the lugs don't overhang on my wrist but i hear from youtube reviews that the longines lugs plus bracelet combo is pretty long. I'm just worried about wearing comfort and lug overhang. The reason why i prefer to get the 42 is it has better lume brightness compared to the 39. But if it just wont fit me, then i will get the 39 no problem.

Any input from the community would be appreciated ☺️

Thanks in advance 🤗

I Have 7" wrist, tried both and the 39 fits perfectly. Good luck and congrats in advance, waiting for wrist shots

Thank you. Looks like i will have her get the 39 then. The 42 overhangs? Or uncomfortable?

·

No overhang but not as comfortable as the 39. The hight is almost perfect at 13mm, if compared to other options like Tudor 15mm.

I found it subtle with lots of presence

Haha therein lies my problem. I'm in this 3rd world city inside a 3rd world country and i would need to take a ~2 hour plane ride to my nearest longines store to try one on and i cant leave work for that. 😄

First of all: that is a lovely dilema to have!

The Spirit Zulu is my absolute favourite watch, my grail, my end goal. And hopefully, one day soon, I’ll face the same issue you’re dealing with right now. But to me, this watch commands wrist presence and at 18cm, you can absolutely pull off the 42mm version, even with the 49.5mm length. At least, I think so.

·

I read here before "in case of doubt go for the smaller one"

I think it's particularly true for Longines due to the lugs

COngrats on your future piece mate !

Thank you. I hope soon you will have the dilemma as well and i can react to your wrist shot of it 🤗

Said no girl ever? 😅

Thanks. Haha now im torn because there isnt a unanimous suggestion in the comments. Personally i'd prefer the 42 because of the stronger lume but since i cant see if it will overhang my wrist, maybe i should play it safe

39 it's a perfect size, and the size it's something so more important.....for me personally the lume thing it's something I don't need ,don't have on several watches and it's irrelevant.

Thank you for the input ☺️

When in doubt, smaller is usually the correct pick. Especially since Longines watches have notoriously long lugs making their watches wear bigger. I would get the 39mm one.

I have the 42 and a 7 " Wrist... With the bracelet the watch looks and feels large..Hence wear it on leather which softens the look.. Go for the 39 if on bracelet

Thanks. i will definitely prioritize the 39 since i want it on bracelet

Does look a bit long on the lugs but you are doing ok with it from my point of view. Thank you for the share and input with pictures 🤗

Update: not looking good for me with this watch. The one Longines she went to yesterday didn't have any zulu time in stock and today the tourist destination they went to doesn't have a nearby Longines boutique. Their last day in korea tomorrow. Hopefully she / i get lucky 🫰🤞

·

Update2: she bought the watch but she wouldn't tell me which she bought. 😆

I can't ask for pics anymore because apparently if you buy duty free in korea they take the item to the airport and you only get it back upon departure (?) At least thats what i think my wife is telling me

Congrats! That’s awesome! You’ll love it no matter the size or color! Wear it in good health!

100% 39mm,

I wear a lot of large watches but the ridiculous length lugs on the 42mm is just too much

·

Thank you everyone for your comments and input. Looks like 39mm is the size to shoot for. My wife already bought the watch but would not tell me what color or size she got. 😆

Here's hoping she doesn't wait until my birthday (Dec 29) to give it to me. 🤣

·

I Just got the 42, and I have a larger wrist than you. I got mines second hand for a great price, but if I were buying new, I would have gotten the 39mm.

Thanks for the input. You pull off the 42 quite well.😍

I'm not sure which size my wife bought because she won't tell me but i did specify 39mm if possible but 42mm as a last resort if 39mm wasnt available. 😄

·

She sure knows how to get me excited. Won't tell me what color or size she picked. Just sent me this

The 39 no question. I saw the 42” in person and was amazed at how enormous it is. I have 7.5” wrists.

It's the lugs. They're almost straight so they look enormous
