Am I doing something wrong?

I now have three watches which seem to have developed sticky and hard to locate crown positions.

Could I be doing something that is causing this? I do take very good care of my watches and rotate what's on my wrist regularly. This means I don't need to change time/date or wind then very often.

Any ideas?

Could be lots of things. Are any of them quite old? What brands are they? General wear and tear the most likely issue of course but age/quality will be a factor.

Are the sticky crown positions and hard to locate positions on the same watch, or do you just have some watches that are sticky and some that are hard to locate?

None are a year old yet. All three are good quality based on general consensus.

All three have the same issues. The crowns are stiff to wind and when pulling out they are sticky and even feel as if the crown is being pulled back in. Locating the positions is difficult as they no longer have positive "clicks".

If less than a year old I'd be having a word with the supplier, the crown/stem should last longer than that but from the description it sounds as if they might be failing.

The Doxa is going in for warranty work but I've yet to hear back from the other manufacturers after emailing them. I find it so strange that the issues are exactly the same on watchdog different rates from different manufacturers.

I wonder how many of them are using the same movements?

Interesting thought.

Although TBH it sounds more of a crown/stem issue so not necessarily a movement problem 👍

Are all three screw down crowns? The position locking feel is basically all yoke and yoke spring, but I don't know what you could've done to damage it this quickly. The yoke and setting lever interaction only experiences wear when positions are being changed, not when the crown is winding or time/date is bejng set. Screw down crowns are spring loaded, which can make them feel different, but I've never felt the spring in the crown much when finding positions.

They are but so are most of my collection. Generally the crown movement and positions are clean with positive locations so that's why I'm getting these ones looked at. I'm wondering about o rings dislodged and in the way.
