Omega Speedmaster Day Date, overlooked?

I have recently purchased this Omega speedy day date from a fellow that just got it back from service at Omega and totally fell in love with this watch. I own a speedy 3861 sapphire sandwich, but I actually like this day date more.

Omega service have done an absolute gem of a job servicing this watch. It runs within 3 seconds a day with little to no position variation and the pushers feel crisp and actuate the chronograph with precision. I am surprised Omega can dial in these 7751 movements so well. It runs just as well as my master chronometer speedy.

Now for why I love this watch so much. The form factor is great and the 39mm case just feel right on the wrist. I have a 7.5" wrist so I definitely have the frame for the 42mm speedy but this just sits better IMO. I prefer to have a date complication in my watches and although I own several no dates I still find the date complication very useful and when it's not there I find myself looking at my wrist a couple of times a day just to realize it's not there. The triple calendar feature of this watch works so well and is so easy to set that it's a true joy. I have had other triple calendar watches before, but none were as smooth or as easy to set. Omega is really doing a great job dialing in these movements.

I am really surprised these watches go for as little as they do.

I am not selling my master chronometer speedy and it is one of my definite keepers but I never expected to get this much joy from the day date which gets way more wrist time.

These neo vintage speedmasters are pretty amazing deals.  I think the main issue from a collector perspective is just that there are so many different references (day dates, reduced models, japan only models, moonphases....the list is endless) that it becomes hard to dial in to getting just one of them.

There's no doubt, they're awesome watches.

You are obviously correct. I like the basic one in black that is the most similar to the moon watch but to each his own.

Hi there and nice pickup on the speedmaster day date there.  I agree that this timepiece quite underrated. I had this watch for 2 yrs and enjoy having it in my collection such a splendid watch for the reasons your stated above Ronenash.

I love my Day Date. I think this particular one can be dressed up or worn with jeans and a T-shirt. The blue dial and red pointer date crescent pops IMO.

Beautiful. Love the look.

I think they will be discovered at so.e point and prices will go up. Regardless I don't care as I am not selling mine and it lives along side the moon watch.
