Watch companies are THE WORST at picking names.
It is no coincidence that Breguet,Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Audemars Piquet, Jaeger Le Coultre….. are world famous.
Despite making watches I like, I would never buy because of the silly name, how it reads/looks brands such as Doxa, Brew, Autodromo, Halios, AnOrdain, Magrette, Unimatic, Masenna Lab, Monta, Zelos….
Why own the watch if you refer to it as tacky?
It’s just a nice watch.
Watches are for watch people, the people around us don’t watch out watches.
That is a big part of it no doubt.
I have a hip watch I can’t wear as it’s too small :(
A Cesio ….
A New York graffiti artist called Ces, made a small batch of watches that he made look like the NY subway trains he used to paint up.
I can’t lie this was a ‘hip n’ cool’ purchase :)
I’m at a stage in my life where I have owned lots of inexpensive functional watches, now I want the sentimental ‘one’ watch to rule them all…. “My precious!’…. aka… ’the roleygrail’.
I am a qualified doctor, recently married, first house purchase…. Lot‘s of reasons/excuses to mark these momentous stages in my life.
The difficulty is picking one.
Just my luck, the momentous ‘Rolex’ purchase life moment I thought I would never attain, I now have……but they have become unattainable through pure popularity. Sure I could own it 2nd hand and at a price that would dilute the very occasion of buying it. So I have moved on to other interests and brands.
