New Watch: Sandoz Datejust Homage
This watch is by Sandoz Hongkong. Founded in 1870 in Switzerland, these watches are manufactured in Switzerland (Swiss Made), Hong Kong (Swiss movements only), Singapore (Swiss movement only), and lastly, Spain (Swiss movement only).
316L steel. 36mm wide case. 20mm lug. Prong set (not cheaply glued; won’t fall out) synthetic diamond and blue sapphires on bezel and diamond for the hour markers. Jubilee style dial (look up Datejust jubilee dial), President bracelet, sapphire crystal, display back, and base ETA 2824-2 with incabloc protection.
Supringly, the screw down crown has a clutch — something not common at about $700. No QC issues. Well made. Decent finishing.
Sandoz use to be popular throughout the world, but now only have a following in Asia and the Middle East.
I looked at this watch for years, and finally decided to purchase form Hong Hong. Happy I did, because it’s a lovely little watch. My wife, who typically finds all my watches boring, rates it 10/10 😆
