Armitron: My First Ever Childhood Watch Purchased

Thanks to DariuslI of Watch Crunch, I decided to buy my first Armitron. My first watch was gifted to me whilst in the 5th grade. It was a diver style watch by Armitron. I loved it. I would sit in class playing with it all day, especially after competing school work. I could not find that exact watch, because other than it being a silver dial diver style watch, I forgot what it looked like. It was stolen a year after receiving it. So I purchased the next best thing: vintage Armitron.

Today, I received this vintage Armitron diver style watch. Reference 20/3313. It has boxed plexi crystal. Glossy black or enamel dial. Lume with a little patina. Like my Black Bay 54, it’s 37mm in width, and 11.2 in thickness. 20mm lug. 34.5mm L2L. Not bad! Movement: miyota 2115, a reliable, accurate, and easily sourced movement. Push/pull crown. Friction dive bezel.

I attempted to research this model, but came up empty. It does seem rather old. Possibly vintage. I suspect the lume may be tritium. The lume has a slight glow at night, even if it has not been exposed to light. Overall, I love it. With similar dimensions as my BB54, wears like a dream. I think it looks beautiful.

Armitron is special to me, because, as mentioned, it was my first watch. Armitron started my immense love for horology. Last year, I learned the brand was started by a Jewish man. And since I am Jewish myself, I have another connection to the brand.

First pic on NATO is my OC. The remaining pictures with the red backdrop are sourced from the original listing. Watch was sold on eBay from a gentlemen residing in Brisbane Australia.

DariuslI, thank you!

Edit: appears to be largely inspired by the vintage Omega 300 dive watches. Same style bezel insert and printed markers.

That is awesome! I have never seen an Armitron in the flesh but that watch looks very cool! I have seen some of their digital offerings and they seem on par with Casio. Its great to have a connection to a brand! Especially when you and the founder share similar roots!

This is nice! I have two Armitron’s and I really like them. If I can find this reference, I am going to buy it!

Trying to find another one that was listed on eBay. Perhaps it sold too. Can’t seem to locate it

Glad you were able to acquire this #armitron . My first watch was a Timex Ironman and it still holds a special place for me, despite no longer having it.

I had one in highschool as well. My dad needed a watch so I loaned it to him. I never got it back🤣😂🤣. I was thinking about this watch a few weeks ago. I have my mom looking thru dad’s old stuff. I stumbled across this story and went to looking for the replacement watch, 30+ years after I lost mine to Dad.

Very nice. Although I like how beat up mine is, it’s nice to see a better example. Thx for sharing.
