My first watch purchase, a Rolex GMT-II got me hooked. That was when you could walk into an AD and inventory was readily available and in displays to try on and purchase.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Real watch, Rolex GMT-II.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I was in Iceland for business and purchased a JS Watch pretty spontaneously. It’s a boutique watch store in Reykjavik, photos of celebs who have visited Iceland cover the walls. Neat watch, fun trip, met the owner/watch designer.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Think twice about a watch purchase. Unless it’s a really hard to find watch, other timepieces will almost always be out there. But what you like/love, not what you think will grow in value.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Tudor, Omega, IWC, and Rolex.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Rolex Daytona, to complete the collection. I’ve been on “the list” for 8 years. I doubt my name will ever come up and simply won’t pay grey market prices.
