With my brother's wedding coming up, I wanted to get a small dress watch for the (rare) occasion I dress up. I finally bought one of the first watches...

I have this exact same combination--PADI mini turtle, strapcode endmill bracelet. I love the way it looks and feels.
My only complaint is the weight. Even sized for my tiny wrist, the watch + bracelet weighs in at 152 grams. Maybe I'm spoiled by my other small watches, but this one always makes its presence known when on the wrist.

Thank you for this post! I've had my F91W for >3 years now and use it as my beater/exercise watch. It works great for nearly everything EXCEPT when I need to see it in the dark. For instance, I often exercise outside my house after dark. This means I want to time my breaks between workout sets. When this happens, I press the little backlight button, the tiny left-mounted green light comes on and... I can vaguely make out what hour it is. Not very helpful.
Nearly all of the "F91W alternative"lists include all watches with "improvements" like more features, bigger, different styling, etc. I don't care about any of that. I just want an F91W with a better backlight. Finally, I know what my next beater watch will be. Thanks again!
I have this same watch, same color, and wear it often on a strapcode bracelet. I love the compact lug to lug for my small wrists. My only real complaints are
1) the bezel on mine has been extremely stiff ever since I bought it, sometimes unusable. I’ve tried to clean it but can’t get it to loosen up. And
2) especially on this bracelet, it’s a heavy watch. Even with most links taken out to fit my puny wrists, it weighs 180grams!
While I hate when watches have a giant day/date cyclops, I actually kind of like the little bubble on this one. Overall, I love the look of this watch but wish its presence wasn’t always so obvious. Great review!

I still just wished the Erebus was a ~37mm. It looks like the ultimate in affordable understated classiness, but just a bit too loo large for a dressier watch.

Finances, like stylistic choices, are highly personal. Furthermore, I don’t have any watches even nearing that price range, so take my opinion with a large grain of salt.
That said, there’s a lot of nice watches between Daniel Wellington and IWC, do you think it might be worth exploring them to figure out what you like? I’ve had a few lower-tier watches now; each time I buy one, I’m sure I’ll love everything about it, then I realize things I hadn’t thought about— lugs are too long, would prefer with/without date complication, crown is too small, etc. I don’t know when I’ll ever make a purchase as much as this IWC, but in the meantime, I’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t on my wrist.
