Name does matter sure, but I think brand is linked to more than just name recognition, at least for all the nerds in any given hobby.
For example, if Rolex slapped their name on a watch that has nothing in common with the rest of their lineup in terms of design language, it probably wouldn’t work as well. I think you see this in the performance of their dress watch attempts over the years, it’s just not what people go to Rolex for even if they do otherwise enjoy dress watches or the Rolex brand. The Rolex name doesn’t really help much there.
All I can say is I’m glad I don’t have your neuroses. Shopping for anything must be hell.

I’ve never had TSA ask me to take off my watch. Just flew from LA to Hawai’i with my zenith pilot and the security dude asked me to stick out/turn over my hands, commented “nice watch” and off I went.
Nice! I’ve got one of the small kershaw launches if I ever feel like carrying around a tiny box cutter, but I’ve thought about picking up one of the runts.
Yup as a CA knife lover you have to be very careful about autos and gravity knives or balisongs are generally not allowed to carry in public. Nothing preventing you from whipping out that Cold Steel Espada XL though!
