What do people think about Omega AT small Seconds in Beige. Does the watch show lot of character on wrist?

In that case the only time you would find it slow is when you are moving away from Timer mode to say Time mode and if saving or deleting something. Otherwise it is pretty ok. Sounds like I am trying to convince you, but just describing my experience with this and previous GBD watch that I have.
The slowness has been an issue from when they introduced Glide model with square face and MIP display. However, tbh, you gotta think how frequently you will be making adjustments.
Agree with your commment! I have never ownedOmega and this would be my first. I am feeling the jitters before pulling the trigger and want to be 100% sure that I am making the right choice.
