I’ve liked watches since I was 10 years-old. I didn’t care about a watch’s brand, I simply enjoyed the way a watch would look. And for the longest time, I would have only one watch and would wear it until it broke. My watch collection started when I got engaged and my fiancée bought me a Zenith El Primero as an engagement present, and voila! Now I had two watches at one time. As I got older and had more disposable income, I was able to start buying watches that caught my eye. I didn’t set out to collect watches - I gathered a collection simply because the more I looked at watches, the more I liked, and the more I wanted to own and wear them.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
It was a mail-order watch that my Dad bought for me when I saw it at the back of the TV guide. I was 10 years-old at the time. I don’t remember the brand.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy whatever watches interest you.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I’ve got my eye on a Islander Port Jefferson Skin Diver automatic with a white dial, reference #ISL-176. It’s currently sold out so I’m waiting for it to come back in stock.
