Maybe a very silly question

Hello fellow watch wonders,

I’ve been using a manual daily winder watch for the first in many years. When I used to use one I am sure you wound your watch just once a day. But this new watch I’m having to wind several times a day. Over the last few days these are the times between windings (in hours): 6.25, 8.5, 11, 12, 14.5. Giving a mean running time after full winding of 10hrs27mins.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the watch?

I don’t want to give the watch make or model, that might be unfair to the company.

Thanks for any help.

Edit:

The watch is brand new.

As I said, I don’t want to say the brand until I’ve given the company a chance to reply to my emails.

There is something wrong with the watch. Get it checked😉

What watch? What movement? How old is the watch? Has it ever been serviced? Answering these questions isn't unfair at all.

Definitely get it checked. Just as examples, I'm using a cheap Chinese ST3600 clone and after a full wind I can leave it alone for 2 days and it still going. My 49 year old soviet watch has never been serviced and it runs for a day and a half with no problems. My 1.5 year old Omega is an automatic, but if I do not wear it, it still runs 2 days later. So, there is definitely a problem with your piece. If it is keeping time, without more details, I would say your main spring is damaged.

Thank you for that, I was pretty sure there might be a problem with it but it’s good to have your hunch confirmed.

Asking a question isn’t silly; not giving relative pertinent information is silly. How is this unfair to the company?

But yes, obviously your watch needs servicing.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve now had an email conversation with the company and they were brilliant.
