It actually started with the Moonswatch (not a real Omega, for some people). I was able to purchase a Mission to Mercury at retail, and after a few months with it, I decided that I had to get the real thing.
I wound up at my nearest Omega boutique, trying on the Speedmaster Professional 3861 display model. Oddly enough, as soon as I put it on, something about the dimensions just didn't feel right โ which was weird at the time since the Moonswatch sat fine on my 6.7in wrist. I'm still not sure what it was, perhaps the added weight of it not being plastic, the slight overhang, etc. but it felt like it physically wasn't for me. Even with that, I still wanted a Speedmaster, the chronograph being my favorite complication (my gateway watch being the Seiko Prospex Chrono SSC911).
Long story short, I ended up settling with the Speedmaster Reduced "II," the ref. 3539.50.00 โ my first Omega watch. I'm also glad to say it fits like a charm! Have a Speedy Saturday everyone!

The Speedy Reduced has been on my list for a long time. Congrats!

That should be, not a real Omega to ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about watches.
Beautiful watch!
Congrats! Great score!

Well except the Omega marketing department, who clearly recognise that this has created more brand awareness than any watch in history.
Absolutely stunning, your health to enjoy.
Congratulations on a beautiful timepiece.

Can you evidence that by way of citation, or is it just what you think
Love it, I have one given to me by my stepdad, beautiful watch.

This thread is evidence of the very thing I was referring to. Op bought a moonswatch, now bought a moonwatch. The internet is awash with posts like this.

Seriously you're suggesting that here on watch crunch, there isn't much brand awareness of Omega?
Beautiful watch..

No, I'm suggesting globally there isn't.
Ask your average Joe (who knows nothing of watches) to name a luxury watch brand, they all say Rolex.
Most don't know anything beyond that.
Did you read the op? Or are you just trying to have a go?
Or perhaps you didn't realise the poster only joined the watchcrunch 4 weeks ago. Which I assumed was after his moonswatch purchase and before his speedy purchase.

Thanks! I hope you find what you're looking for!
