The original Everest watch as worn by Sir Edmund Hillary on his 1953 ascent of Everest. Apparently he also carried a Rolex but no one cares 😁

great watch. He didn't even carry the Rolex, see later discussions on here, which include the Rolex abject apology for when they had tried to claim a Rolex had reached the summit - other members of the expedition had Rolexes, but Hillary had a Smiths - the Smith's advert from '53 has Hillary's quote about "carrying their watch to the summit", which I've always suspected meant he had it in a pocket on his jacket, rather than actually on his wrist at the crucial moment. Tenzing didn't wear his Rolex at the summit either. Hillary most certainly was not carrying a Rolex as well!
