I've wanted a "nice" watch for some time, and as an Air Force veteran, did some googling on interesting watch related AF history. A YouTube rabbit hole (or several) later, and here we are.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I bought a Casio F105 at basic training. I've lost several, but I always keep at least one handy, replacing the lost piece as soon as I can.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
It's not the most horologically significant piece, but my Suunto Core has been on my wrist for three years of my adventures in law enforcement in a big city. It's lost its compass indicators and most of the finish on the bezel, I've bought more straps for it than I've bought socks, but I do love the thing.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Avoid the brands "disrupting the industry by cutting out the middle man". I fell prey to more than a couple overpriced fashion brands in my youth, and they're just not worth it for the look.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Maybe not any particular brands, but dive watches in general have been catching my eye more than I'm willing to admit. Blame the Duro my brother harangued me into grabbing up.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
As a flight/space nerd, I don't think I need to explain how badly I want an Omega Speedmaster Professional.
