So this Horween leather strap is about three or four years old. It started to look a bit shabby after a year or so, which I liked. But then it cracked. I've treated it with a leather cleaner/preserver. After which, it looked worse. So now I've rubbed some Nivea hand moisturiser into it a few times.
The leather seats in my 23 year old car are only now beginning to look shabby. How should I care for my leather watch straps?

Moisturiser is not wrong but not Nivea :-) you can try minx oil or beeswax. You might have to do it more than once cause the leather looks really dry. I basically use the same stuff as I use on my leather shoes, just without buffing it.
Cleaning and preventive application of a leather conditioner helps.
Ultimately leather straps are consumables which will wear out - there's much greater strain on the leather around the buckle than there is on a car seat.
A deployant clasp reduces the strain but defeats much of the point of a leather strap because it's much less comfy than a traditional pin buckle.

@nichtvondiesemjahrhundert Thanks for the advice. I suppose I should be philosophical about it and buy a new strap every few years.
