My wife surprised me
Bought me my grail watch as an early 10th anniversary/bday gift.
I saw this watch in a movie many years ago, I was pretty young and hadn't begun collecting watches yet but something about it struck me. It stayed with me all these years, always watching examples on eBay, Chrono 24.
In the last few years I've found that I sometimes over-hype watches for myself; I watch the same YouTube reviews over and over, look at the watch on Instagram, read about it on ablogtowatch, to the point that once it arrives I'm not as impressed with it as I was while I was researching it.
I've been admiring this watch for well over a decade, and now that it's here I'm awestruck. It may not be the most technically impressive watch, but then again, you don't really buy a breitling for the movement anyhow.
