Incoming goodies (updated 13th May)

Four watches to round things off for the time being.

Last night I had a conversation with a British watchmaker who actually makes the watches himself. He made one for me last year (it currently features on the home page of his website). It was a good chat, a little about watches and mostly about life.

I’ve posted about this here and on other fora. In recent years life stuff has become more important to me and this has had the effect of displacing certain things. Among the things I now spend less time on is watches.

I still enjoy all things around the collecting habit, but not nearly to the same extent as before. I enjoy good design in all things - both classical and novel - and I still enjoy variety. What began as a renovation of my little cottage in Scotland, for instance, has become a full-scale restoration - more like an art project than incidental upgrades.

The watches pictured here are examples of a latest chapter in one aspect of my collecting behaviour. They’re a world apart from the kinds of watches I used to own, but each offers a new experience. That’s good enough for now.

There’s a nice range of choices. It was a quick decision after years of circling CPCP Santos-Dumont Cartiers.
