LUC - “Patek for Pennies”?

You can’t get away from comparisons. Everything is valued relative to something else. Appreciation of one thing is based on acceptance of an implicit hierarchy with something else higher up or on top.

That’s the case here, where watches by LUC are granted the somewhat ambiguous accolade of being the peasant’s Patek. Let’s hope it’s tongue-in-cheek, since this is not a watch for the hoi poloi.

I had this watch before I heard the epithet. I liked it because of its art deco symmetries, for Chrysler Building hands you only get from LUC, and for the funky orange flourishes.

These are aesthetic cues, and surely they are all that matter. Let the feudal bullshit rot on the vine.

I couldn't care less for Chrysler hands. I'm myself more of an Empire State guy, have it in my window too. But this watch is bonkers. I don't like PPs because they feel like really old people's watches but not Mick Jagger old, rather old person smell and liver stains old kind.
