I've been collecting pieces for 10 years. My first mechanical watch was the Hamilton Intra-Matic, but became somewhat of a Seiko fan. I collect pieces more on the affordable end, with my most costly piece being the Sinn 556i.
When the pandemic hit my job sent us all home, and I've been working from home since. All my dress pieces have bee accumulating dust in their case for...
I hated working from home for the first 8 months or so. After 4 years, though, I don't want to go back to the office. I can see how it would be difficult having children around.
I watched Jody's video and was amazed at the price of this piece given the specs: Miyota 9015 movement, sapphire crystal, 100 meters WR, signed crown, adjutable sliding clasp, pretty decent loom, screw down crown, solid end links, screw links, etc.
I prefer 4Hz, but not a deal breaker (have a bunch of Seikos). I actually been wanting to add a 3.5Hz to my collection, for no other reason than I don't have one. I also have a King Seiko from the 60's that runs at 5Hz, and love putting it to my ear to listen to that high beat.

Agree with you, especially on the comment about the NH35 vs. 6RXX. I have 2 Seikos withe the 6R15 movement and they keep terrible time, even from the beginning. My pieces with the 4RXX or NHXX movements keep better time.

I believe some of the hype has to do with the recent availability of affordable GMT movements. Also, in my case, having a piece with a complication other than date makes my collection more rounded (despite not having much of a need for it).
