Seiko 5 SNKL41 or SARY055? Everyday watch.

Hello Everybody,

I am new on this website, and I would like to know your opinion about these two watches.

I would like to have an everyday watch to replace my old quarts MTP-1370, it has a daydate design which what I love about it but sadly I have to retire it now because it has been badly beaten for almost 9yrs now (still works).

As much as I would like to get the SNKL41 the 3-bar spec is kind of a deal breaker for me. My idea of an everyday watch is that it can withstand heavy rains and would be great for a swim while maintaining a classic or vintage look.

Although the SARY055 takes care of that, I would still like to know your opinion. I really like the 4 o'clock crown position of the SNKL41.

The SARY is a much bigger watch at 41mm than the SNKL at 37mm. That could be a more important criteria than the WR.

Is this for the lug to lug size or just the case? My Orient Bambino V2 is almost the same size of SARY and my MTP is also the same size of SNKL. I have no problem with both watch sizes but I'll consider this also, thanks!

Edit* Its SNKL41

Pare, best to try both watches on wrist, and see which you make a better connection with. From my experience, the SNKL41 has no problem with heavy rain. But, if your regularly swim in pools and beaches, and always wear a watch doing so, then even the SARY will be "out of place" as it is definitely a dress watch. Better to use a field or dive watch for all your swimming activities. But that's just imho. Buy what you really like and will enjoy. Advanced congrats to you whichever you get.

I forgot to give an update but I did ended up getting the SRPE51k1 from Seiko. Which suits the daily requirements I needed. Kinda looks like Black Bay 36 too.

Congrats! Good choice. Imho it looks better than a BB because it has a better handset, iconic to the SKX series.

Thanks! Its 2nd (2 out of 8) from the collection that I'm trying to build.
