I'm an ex-pat living in Japan. Kind of a funky start with watches: Never used to wear one, bought a smartwatch for fitness but then this led me to become a mechanical watch nerd. Kept the smartwatch, but currently have 4 mechanical watches that dominate the wrist.
Bought a smartwatch for fitness/golf, traded that one for a Tag Heuer smartwatch, and then I fell in love with the Heuer Monza reissue from a few years back. That started me down the path.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Probably a Timex many years ago!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Only buy what you can afford, and only buy what you want to wear.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
The German brands from mid-tier on up.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Moser Streamliner. None of my watches have a steel bracelet, but the Streamliner's integrated bracelet seems just perfect. Way out of my budget for a watch, but maybe one day.
