Seiko SRPC61. A year on wrist and I'm still impressed.

March 26th 2022 will mark one year with this SRPC61.

While looking at some older Seiko5 models I came across the Bottle Cap and knew that I wanted it. It looked somewhat like a mix between a shroudless Tuna, a run-of-the-mill 5KX and oddly, a dress watch. At least to me it did.

The lume is bright, evenly applied and long lasting but I've come to expect no less from Seiko.

The 4R36 movement is accurate to just -4 seconds per day.

The SRPC61 has a black dial with no sunburst or reflective finish. It has a clear and detailed minute track on the dial and forgoes the marked chapter ring for an unmarked brushed chapter ring. Because of this, the bezel insert easily lines up with the markers on the dial.

The round marker indicies are surrounded by a high polished border that lends a dressy more refined look to the dial.

The bezel is a standard 120 click bezel that's fitted with an unlumed steel bezel insert.

The finish is lightly done brushing, just enough to avoid the finger print magnet effect.

The SRPC61 has a case diameter of 45mm and comes in at 47mm lug to lug and is 13mm tall. On paper, this thing is a monster.  It's really not. I don't think the short lugs are the reason it sits small even though it definitely helps.  I think it has more to do w/ the optical illusion that is the dial.  The dial is deep-set and contrasts with the bezel making this watch feel like a 45mm but look more like a 38-40mm. Oddly, the SRPC61 has a lug width of 20mm but due to how it sits on the wrist, feels like it could have been fitted with a 18mm or 22mm bracelet with little difference.

It's measurements are almost exactly those of my Turtle but the watches look and feel impossibly different.

There's a lot of attention given to the super-represented SKX/5KX's and the like but the SRPC61 Bottle Cap seems to have flown below the radar. I love the look of this watch and it drove me crazy that I couldn't find many pictures, videos, or even listing for it.

Complaints are few.
I would have felt better with a screw down crown but I'm sore it won't be a problem.

The bracelet looks good on it which is great because I've found that rubber, NATO's or elastic make this watch look awkward. For me it only looks good on the stock bracelet or on an alligator leather strap.

I can't really say what it is about this little Desk Diver that speaks to me but I know this, it's beautiful.

Nice mini review. I agree that its looks uniquely good and wears well on the wrist.

Congratulations! I do feel the same way about the Bottlecap. With more vivid colors and contrast. 😊
