Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

My first brand watch, which I still own, was a Seiko 7002-7001 aka SDS001, given to me some 30 years ago as an engagement present by my wife. Since then, well a while after, Seiko Diver's, and now others have joined my collection.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

See above, Seiko Diver's 7002-7001.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Not my own story, but the Bulova Lunar Pilot, referred to as the other moon watch, from Apollo 17 and Dave Scott. It is a beautiful piece and THE most accurate watch I own.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Buy what you want and what appeals to you but buy quality. Some may suggest that buying a Rolex is quality and all others are rubbish, but my fav brand Seiko has been innovating and building quality for 100 years, and stand the test of time. Research your next piece, see what passion lays behind it. When the maker, even (especially) a Micro Brand starts listing the care and effort that was put into the design and the build - you pretty much know you are buying a quality piece.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

I am trying not to buy any more atm, tho I continue to watch reviews on YouTube as it is a continuing interest that I enjoy. I can't really afford any multi thousand dollar watches but I have Phoibos calling out to me - or maybe an Islander, as I like Marc and love his passion.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT Sled Driver Tribute to Lockheed's magnificent SR-71 Blackbird, and Major Brian Shul who was an SR-71 Pilot, and who is a remarkable man in his own right.
