Invicta Pro Diver Review - Gimme that deep sea gold!

Hmm... Invicta... why does Nico hate you so???

My beautiful Invicta Pro Diver 8929OB is a gorgeous dive watch that pays tribute to the iconic Submariner design, with a splash of 18k gold (plating).

This watch has a 40 mm gold-plated stainless steel case, a black and gold unidirectional rotating bezel, a black dial with gold hands and indices, and unfortunately a mineral crystal. It does run on the dependable Seiko NH-35A automatic movement - 41-hour power reserve, date window at 3 o’clock, 24 jewels, 21,600 bph, etc.., which is visible via the exhibition case back. The watch is of course water-resistant to 200 meters and has a gold-plated stainless steel bracelet.

I have had this watch for over a month and I love it, no really I LOVE IT. It has been reliable and keeps time like it should, but it looks amazing on my wrist. The gold plating adds a touch of elegance that my steel Invicta does not have and contrasts with the black dial and bezel, making the watch stand out. It is clearly inspired by the Rolex Submariner, but I don’t mind homage watches and I think Invicta did a great job with this one. The 40 mm case is the perfect size for my 19 cm wrist and the watch is very comfortable to wear since I swapped the bracelet for a rubber Oysterflex style strap, which made the watch look and feel better. The rubber strap also gives the watch a more casual and sporty vibe, which I like. The only thing I don’t like is the mineral crystal, which is not very scratch-resistant.

I have to say, the Invicta Pro Divers are excellent watches and they will probably be the only Invictas I buy since I am not a fan of their larger styles. Also, my 8929OB has already attracted compliments and praise from fellow watch lovers, even from a few Rolex owner friends of mine. It is a watch that I will enjoy wearing for years to come, and it makes me feel proud of my collection. And if you are like me, you will appreciate this gold beauty since gold is not only stylish and symbolic but also fun and cheerful. After all on this watch, gold is the new black. 🤑

Have a nice day everyone!

  • The 18k Gold Plating
  • Solid work horse NH-35A movement.
  • Great classic design and look of the watch.
  • Mineral Crystal
  • The bracelet didn't feel as good as other in the same price category
  • It's not an original design / copied Rolex

On the 40 mm case I believe it's a 20 mm width in the strap, the same as on the real Rolex.

Try the Grand Diver (better everything), the Force and the subdued Reserve range.

I wanted to get one, but the 47 mm make sit to large for me. The most I can wear is 45 mm, I have the titanium Pro Diver in that size, but hardly wear it. Is there a granddiver under 47mm?

You can get them in 39 and 42mm I believe. The 1953 is 42mm

This is watch that got me into collecting. I.E. you can own more than or or two watches. Bought the Pro Diver sub clone in black. Liked enough to get another but could not decide on Pepsi bezel or Blue Dial/Bezel version. Then they went on sale on Amazon so why decide? Get both. Instant three watch collection for (at the time) under $200. All down hill from there.
