Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Started young with my first calculator watch and then to swatch’s. During college I worked on the beach and then for Bose, and some watches stood out more than others. Asking about the watches led to some great conversations. The watch that got me hooked wasn’t a Rolex, but instead an Oris. It was 1998 and my customer was wearing the Oris High-Mech Dive watch that was oil filled. Such a cool watch and part of the High-Mech collection. Glad to be able to afford the watch brands I’ve admired since the 90’s. I still have more to collect ;)

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Timex Calculator watch when I was 10. Saved up for that thing and thought it was the coolest. 1980’s

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Wife worked for the Orange Bowl at the time that the Gators won the national championship. It was an amazing event to attend, and the players, coaches, and key participants were given a custom Tourneau BCS National Championship watch. My wife is amazing and gave me the watch. Brings back great memories every time I put it on.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Purchase a watch maintenance kit. Learn on the cheap stuff, and have a vision board. Lastly, purchase quality, don’t be afraid of used (if authentic), so the value holds allowing you to trade up. Every watch has a story!

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Love Tudor! They have been bring back old school colors that I loved on the older Rolex brands. Although the name doesn’t carry the same prestige, it’s turning into my favorite brands. Also Zenith. Ball is one that I also enjoy, especially with the story behind the brand.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Not sure I have one yet. I’ll keep you posted.
