Yeah, they were very welcoming to me in there. I’ve heard that some people have had to wait a week or two to get the watch they want. I guess I just got lucky! Even more reassurance that I made the right decision. I hope you enjoy your watch as much as I’ve been enjoying mine. I know this is the honeymoon phase, but I honestly don’t know how I could enjoy any other watch more than this one.
How do you mean? Once I had the funds, I just waited for the right time to go into an AD. I happened to be going to San Francisco with some friends last weekend, and there was a Cartier boutique there. I went in, and they luckily had the watch in stock. Supposedly, it was the last Cartier Santos medium they had in stock. I told them I’d sleep on the decision, and they said they’d hold it for me for 24 hours. I got the AD’s business card, then texted her the next day to set up an appointment to come in, and I walked out with the watch after about 30-45 minutes.
I usually keep a couple options in mind when saving for a watch. That way if I go into an AD and try it on, but don’t love it, then I’ll still have another option to look at. Luckily, I’ve always enjoyed the choices once I see them on my wrist. I have been eyeing some Breitlings and I’m worried that when I try them on, they will be too large for me, so I’ll keep another watch in mind while I’m saving for my next one.
It did come with the secondary rubber strap. It’s really dark brown, almost black. It’s really high quality and really comfortable. I hate that it’s a 21mm lug width because I’d use it on other watches. I really have my heart set on an Artem sailcloth strap though, and one of their deployant buckles. I wanna see what all the hype is about!
I don’t know if it’s clear from the photo, but the color of the case is a “bronze pvd”. It’s a very unique color, kind of a reddish gold. I’m thinking maybe a black strap makes the most sense, but I want to make sure it looks ok with the case and dial color.
I would definitely say do it! I love it so far. I wish it had a more unique movement, but it’s nice if anything happens to go wrong with this one, since it will be cheaper to service. And honestly, the only thing I wish I could change was if this was 36mm instead of 39mm. They definitely wear much larger than they appear and I believe the 36mm would have been the better size for me. Still love this 39mm though.
