SOTC - First Attempt

Hi all, thanks for reading. This is my first attempt at a state of the collection. Been through a lot of pieces since I got into this hobby in 2019. I have finally parsed my collection down to what I feel are some reliable, varied pieces.

Let me know what you think! At this point I’m looking for a nicer quartz chronograph, thinking of Brew. My grails are a luxury diver in the $4000 range and a vintage Omega Seamaster dress with date.

Any suggestions for future pieces or missing omissions?

Seiko quartz chronograph:

My wife bought this for me for $25 on SlickDeals 2 years ago. It’s really reliable, even if it is cased in plastic. Need a racing strap.

Casio F91-W

Really feel this is essential for any collection. I don’t wear it that often, but it gets the job done. Love the vintage vibes.

Doxa Sub 200 Caribbean

My first watch above the $500 mark. I’ve had this for almost 4 years and it’s a favorite. I love how unique it is to the Doxa lineup, its blue coloration, and that it wears smaller than its stated dimensions. Have a bunch of memories with this one.

Hamilton Intra-Matic 38mm

My ideal size for a dress watch. A newish acquisition from eBay as Hamilton discontinued this model (really unsure why). Love this watch, its size, feel, and style. No seconds hand is really minimalist.

Sinn 556a

I’ve owned this less than a year and it’s awesome. My most expensive watch. It keeps amazing time and is a nice blend of a pilot style with field aspects. Double sided AR coating is lovely. My most legible watch. Pure class.

Seiko SNK 809

Really my first mechanical watch. Saw my dad have one and needed it. Always searching for a perfect band, but these old Seiko 7S26 movements are reliable and quaint. Plus I love the day/date feature. This is my camping buddy.

Vintage Girard Perragaux dress

I’m unsure of the model number but am told it is from the 1950s. Purchased last year as a gift from my dad for my birthday from Retrowatchguy. My smallest watch at 35mm. It needs to be serviced because the crystal is loose, but keeps spot on time at +6 spd. The first time I had a vintage watch I fell in love. The patina and age and wear and tear make me love them more.

Anyways, thanks for reading! Appreciate meeting all you fellow watch crunchers.

Any collection is in theory a complete collection and in practice never complete. You can add anything that tickles your fancy. You seem to have a pretty good idea of what you want. I think it’s a lovely collection. It really gets meaning because of the stories you tell about them. Your future purchases should have those too! Keep your eyes open but your wallet closed until it clicks!
