Wedding watch.

I just shared this on another thread but thought the greater WatchCrunch population would like to hear.

So one of my most often worn watches has been my wedding watch. I wore it a bunch before the big day, and I continue to wear it any chance I get. A few years back, my wife (then girlfriend) gifted me a Tissot PR100 titanium for my birthday. I wore it all the time. It was my first Swiss watch. I loved it. I knew that this watch would be one that I would never part with simply because of its style and the fact that it was my first swiss piece.

But those reasons would soon be second to the big reasons why it will always be a part of the collection and a part of me. Dec 2020 I proposed to her and this past July I married her. All the while, this watch was on my wrist.

It is now housed in my "priceless" watch box. It is the only watch in there that is not my Dad's or Grandfather's old watches. I now have some watches that are double, maybe triple the price of the Tissot, and I have my eyes on even loftier priced ones. However, none will ever quite be on the Tissot's level.

What are some other stories of wedding watches or other significant moments? I am still relatively new to the hobby(really the past five years being deep), so I do not have many great stories...... yet.

Great story! I bought myself a 1990s Seamaster 11 months before my big day to wear on the big day. The original plan was to not wear it until the wedding day, however, it's actual torture to have your first "big brand" watch sitting on your desk for 11 months without being able to wear it. So my fiancée and I caved and I started wearing it 6 months early. Karma got me good and the crown snapped off a month into wearing it. Thankfully I was able to get it back from service with 3 months to spare. It was my top-worn watch for 3 years until I picked up a Tudor Black Bay 41 to commemorate my daughter's birth this year.

Unfortunately I was not as well versed in watches when I was married about 5.5 years ago. I requested my fiance buy me an Arvo watch, which, while it looks okay, is really a pretty cheap piece and lacking severely in quality. I'd like to replace it/get rid of it, but I'd feel guilty since it was a wedding present from my wife.

My wife bought me this piece to celebrate our engagement:

For our wedding, I wore this one (it went better with white tie and tails):

As you are newly wed still… I’ll share you my engagement and wedding watch for 21 years… my Tag shows its history… i wore it a lot! It’s a true representation of my marriage been through tough and great times and it still keeps on ticking!! So wear your watch well and look at it from time to time and admire the scratches since every scratch shows it’s history and story…

That’s a great looking Tag! It reminds me of the Tag someone I cared gave me once.
