Sinn is currently in big need of watchmakers due to sudden growth in demand for many of their models. This has led them having to employ people with no previous experience in the art of watchmaking (in hopes of teaching them of course). If the rumors are true and there are quality control issues I'd wager it being down to this. Remember that all Sinn watches come with minimum warranty of 2 years (sometimes 3 or even 5) so if you do encounter any issues and you bought yours new, they should be more than happy to fix/replace it for you!
Student from a watchmaking school here! 👋 I think watchmaking is actually more alive now than it’s been in the last few decades. I feel like the perceived “dying” of the art is due to new watchmaking student being unwilling to apply for teaching positions and who can blame them when their skill and passion is wanted by literally every big name out there. Also many watchmaking schools are already at full capacity, for example ours gets around 200 applicants a year but can only accept 30 of them due to capacity and monetary limitations.

It is a stunning watch and I remember Teddy describing it as a possible microbrand "Rolex OP" alternative. Personally would be looking at a watch from more established brand at that price point (I've been really into Sinn watches lately) but I'm sure you will be more than happy with your purchase if you end up getting it. Might be a hard one to sell if you end up parting ways with it in the future though...
