Hesalite, Hardlex and other non-sapphire crystals - why the fear?

I’ve noticed a lot of people tend to prefer sapphire crystals, but I’ve never actually scratched. Hardlex crystal on any of my Seikos🤷‍♂️. Also, hesalite might scratch, but a couple minutes with Some polywatch and it’s new again. Why the insistence on sapphire?

. I’m probably alone on this, but I actually prefer hesalite, it just looks better. I wish my Hamilton khaki field mechanical had a hesalite crystal honestly, especially because of how reflective the sapphire crystal is. I’d also take hesalite or Hardlex over sapphire that has AR coating on the outside, because once that’s scratched, it’s staying like that unless you remove the AR coating completely - which is way more annoying than a once over with polywatch.

anyone else think sapphire is overrated? Or am I alone in this thought? Lol

In fact, I think similarly to you. I have several watches with Sapphire crystal, but somehow this crystal gives the watches a very technically cold look. I have been looking for a nice diver's watch with Hesalite glass for a long time. So far, I have only found this explicitly in the #lorier #neptune. A few scratches don't bother me at all, because I think it's nice if you can see a little bit that my watch is experiencing adventures with me.

Can you recommend diving watches with Hesalite gals?
