commented onOld post on Fratello about Grand Seiko, circa 2004·
Dont forget what the market was like in those days. I had bought my sub LV the flat four version from the authorised dealer in 2004 for 3.5k euro aka 4.4k usd at the time, and speedies where at 3k new if even that. 5k gave you a lot of options back in 2004 both new and used. I honestly dont think grand seiko was competitively priced back then.
I am in the waitlist but they told me it's not a big wait. Maybe a week till they get stock in the boutique. I was told they only got very few watchs on launch day and are waiting for the restock that could come any day now.

Love the watches for what they are, but don't enjoy the recent culture that has developed around them. I do own a few but the last few years i tend to enjoy wearing the less recognisable/ desirable models and the vintage models, for example my sub has not seen any wrist action for a couple of years but i frequently wear a yacht master 40mm, replaced a YG DD with a WG DD and now it gets worn frequently and will wear a neovintage GMT but not the newer ceramic model. Same with the explorer ii.
