Question...Watch clasp

How or what is the best way to protect a stainless watch bracelet fold over clasp from scratching.. Any ideas? Thank you..

Walk around like this and be seated like so…maybe don’t make the face though 😅

Satin finish scotch tape might work but i'd imagine you would need to replace it often. I've never thought about it as my watches tend to be divers/tool watches and a few scuffs just add character.

A nice leather strap?

Okay...I should know better than to ask a silly question.. I wear all of my watches and sometimes change a time or two during the day. And a scratch or two does indeed 'add character ' but if i though of a way to proteck the clasp for the next owner it would be great.. 🤒

On a serious note I haven’t seen anything that will do what your asking. At days end all scratches and dings can be repaired if you feel the need to up keep a perfect bracelet if I would employ you to learn to live with it or even weare as a badge of honor that says to the next enthusiast “hey I actually wear my pieces. How about you!” 👀

Not the "You're old" part 🙄, but she's probably right. Personally, I think a speedy looks better on leather anyway.

So, if we're thinking about the resale value, are we enjoying the watch less? My friend John bought a brand new Aston Martin a few years ago. But he was too scared to drive it because of resale value. Whereas my more modest sports car has been great fun, even though it's now covered in scratches and dings.

I haven’t tried it but there is a special foil from 3m to wrap cars to protect them from stone chips and such, maybe that or something similar would work, also a resin coating could work… Personally I don’t care for scratches on my watches.

Same with mine. Wabi sabi. A sports car with a story to tell. I think watches should tell a story too. But I still think a speedy looks better on leather. 😎

I used normal sticky tape on mine for over a year, worked ok. Took it off because I'm a shop manager so don't really work at a desk. Now I just give it a clean up with a Brillo pad whenever it needs it (a couple of times in 3 months)

A Brillo pad?!? Wouldn't that scratch it like crazy? We used to use them to clean mouldy old mugs at school

Yeah, I think I mean a scotchbright - the green pan scourer things that have sponge on the other side (not the metal wire things!!) 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m here really late but 3M makes special “surface protective” tapes. You can find them on Amazon. I cut a small piece of tape to cover the clasp and smaller pieces to cover the first few links. Works like a charm and you won’t even notice it’s there.

Thank you..I found some 3m stuff that protects cars and cut to size and seems to work great..
