Wouldn’t it straighten out if you started to twist the crown at a different starting point after you wind up on the threads?
That would be something that would work for multiple threaded screws, while these are single thread. That means there's only one starting point, i.e. those the spirals will only "align" one way. The increase in wonkiness will be due to wear on the thread... 🥲

Gotcha! Damn sorry bro. Just don’t look at it no more 😂
They only align for foto shoots and in digital renderings. Not in real life. Too many tiny variations in manufacturing. It's an unnecessary element, especially since the thread will wear out and it'll misalign soon enough

Hahaha, I wasn't even looking at the vertical alignment, it was the left-to-right non-symmetry of the Rolex crown on the watch crown that I was talking about.
Now you've mentioned that it grinds my gears even more now LOL! 😄 My old man has a v old sub from the 60s and I'm back in Glasgow in a couple of weeks so I'll check it out for myself.

aaand the more you undo and redo it, the more it'll "wonk"

Get some molegrips on it!! 🤣
Apparently you can request to have it aligned when you send it in for servicing.
