Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
I’d never bought any watches previously, even though I’d always held an interest in them and the intricacy that goes into making a good mechanical. After being made redundant I decided to treat myself with my payout and so I’m finally dipping my feet into the world of watch collecting!
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF… only bought in January this year. I love it!
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Unfortunately not, but perhaps I’ll add one to my collection one day.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Don’t be ashamed of a watch that you like. Even if it’s not a popular watch or brand. A watch should say something to you… and if it does, it’s worth owning.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Because I’m after a dress watch next, the Cocktail-time collection from Seiko’s Presage range is singing to me. Given that I don’t have a Dive watch, I’m thinking of the Orient Kamasu with the red dial too.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The Grand Seiko Omiwatari. You only need look at it to understand. 😍
