I must say, being a watch collector for a long time, and having worked on the design for the watch and jewelry lines at Ralph's for the last 8 years I was there, that the watches were really high quality, using JLC, Piaget, and IWC movements (then Selitta for the lower priced references) Even now, even though they no longer have the joint venture with Richemont, they're using Selitta movements, and Le Joux-Perret. For a designer and watch collector, it was a dream job. It was an honor and pleasure to work with Ralph, Jerry and the team in Geneva. Though I did hundreds of design variations for each watch line, Ralph always had the final say as to what the watches looked like. It was without a doubt, challenging, but that's what made it exciting!

I worked for Ralph for 25 years.....the last 8 years, I was lead watch designer....I worked closely with Ralph and Jerry Lauren, (also a watch collector). We did use an IWC Jones movement for the first automotive watch that we designed. In addition to JLC movements,(JLC750, 751) for the chronographs, we used the Piaget 430 for the first 867 square watch, (27.5mm case). For most of the Safari line we used Sellita movements which helped lower the price points.
