It all started June last year

It all started in June last year. I stumbled upon some YouTube videos on watches. I wanted an automatic watch but I did not want to spend much money. I did not know if watches would stick with me. I really wanted the Max Bill but I could not justify it. I found the Iron Annie Bauhaus on eBay and offered $290. It felt like the Max Bill on a budget and I loved it when it finally arrived. I work in a construction company and spend part of my day in the field and the Iron Annie felt "too good" to accidentally bang it against something. I actually did bang it on a scaffold but the scratch is barely visible. For that reason I went back to eBay and got myself a Seiko 5 for $110. Loved it. It's the watch I wear the most, a carefree watch. The Bauhaus itch was still there though... During another eBay browsing I found the Max Bill Chronoscope, "new other" for $1500. It felt like I was committing a sin, but I got it. People talk about Grail watches all the time. At this point, the Max Bill is that for me. I absolutely adore the design. And feeling the unidirectional rotor (you can feel it!) Is just a joy. Sometime later, guess where I am. Yep, eBay. I see a used Hamilton Pan Europ with a few scuffs. Well, character I thought. And it was quite a nice watch. I offered $450 and the offer was accepted. Lovely watch. A bit big and bold, but I enjoy wearing it. Sometime later... You can see where this is going. Yes, eBay again. This time I see the radio controlled Junghans Meister Mega. This one was a steal for just $360. I did not like the bracelet, but that was an easy fix. It's not the Max Bill (I still don't have the Max Bill), but it has some flavor of it. And I love the quirkiness of the display case in a quartz watch. Junghans is proud of the circuitry they put on the watch. I adore the whitish, sort of eggshell tone of the dial. I love wearing it with a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt. One day I stumble upon Studio Underd0g. I think it was one of Jodi's reviews. I knew I had to have a quirky watch. I signed up for the notification of the next release, and when it happened I bought the Watermelon and the Mint Chocolate Chip (this one has been in the box since because I feel too guilty for spending so much money in two watches - sounds silly, but I am saving it maybe for my birthday late this year). Finally, today I received my Seiko SSK015. Bought it $150 off at Macy's. I did not have a GMT and I just loved the looks of it. I write investment articles once in a while, when I see something interesting, and this watch was fully paid by that hobby, so I don't feel guilt about it. Super happy with this purchase. Less than a year later, I have a small collection, mostly bought on eBay, that I really enjoy. I hope to gain more self control in the future :)

I’d say check out Pagani, San Martin and Sugess. Seagull, too. All Chinese brands. Sugess and San Martin and Pagani are Chinese homage watches and Seagull is an original brand that was commissioned to make watches for the Chinese military. They actually base their 19 series movements (same one in your Stufio Underdog watch you own) off of old Swiss Venus movements. They bought the machines for making those movements from the disbanded Swiss company. They all make great watches and are great pieces for occasional wear in any collection.

Maybe add a G Shock in there, too. Any one, really, can’t go wrong with a G.

I am not into Casio. I know, a sacrilege, but it really does not click with me. Same with Tissot. The only Tissot I would consider is the Sideral. Back to Casio, maybe the Duro, I would probably get the duro.

I mean, to each their own. I love my Casios. They’re really guilt free buying. You can just pick one up pretty much anywhere.
