I started researching horology shortly after starting a new career path out of college in 2013. I’ve been free falling down the rabbit hole ever since.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The first watch I remember owning was a Citizen Nighthawk. I owned one prior to that in high school but can not remember or identify what it was.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I own a 14k gold Rolex OP Date ref 1501 from the early to mid 80’s which was passed down to me from my grandfather. It was given to him as a gift from my late grandmother and my grandfather (a man of simpler taste) said he would never have splurged and bought it for himself. I always recall him wearing the watch as a child during the holidays and special occasions. Both of my grandparents live on through this watch and I tend to wear it whenever I want to feel their presence and inspiration.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Take your time. Do your research. Always see the watch in person if possible. Buy what you love, not what is hyped.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Tudor, Nomos, Longines, Sinn, Oris, Cartier, Jaeger LeCoultre, Grand Seiko
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
FP Journe - I love the artistic and bespoke nature of his work. The creative designs and complications speak to me.
