That depends if it's for a hobby and posting on social or if it's a professional product shot selling at the watch. Just don't kid your self about the purist analog olden days of product and watch photography. Photo retouching goes back decades with brush and paint on both the negatives and final prints. We also did optical composite for backgrounds and other vfx that could not be created in camera, just like movie old vfx. How do I know, I'm old and it was required for product photography then, as it is today.
Context and subjectivity are also at play. What one person thinks is too much is fine with another, and neither views are wrong in my view. I think it was best said by @gbelleh "Enhancement is good. Unless one is trying to deceive."
