A watch you like. Legit tips I would offer:
1. If you're considering an inexpensive gold colored watch, or any steel looking watch, make sure the base metal is steel and not something that will corrode on you unexpectedly (has happened to me).
2. If you want a watch with day or date, make sure it has quick set date.
3. Get at least 100 meters of water resistance, if you only plan on having one watch for a while, so you don't have to worry about getting it wet.
4. Skip a watch with a leather strap for your first watch, for the same basic reason, or but a quick change rubber strap you can swap easily if you need to get the watch we it dirty.
5. Check the lume if you want lume.
6. If you want a diver style watch, make sure the timing bezel rotates and is not molded out of the case.
7. Don't be afraid of an inexpensive fashion watch. I have some $20 Fossil watches that have shortcomings but they helped me learn about watch quality and what I want in a watch.
I would recommend you look at some Casio 3-hand watches if you want something to start with. They're way less than your 350 price point, they're tough, lots of color options, and you can still buy a 300 dollar after you've had it for a while. 💪
