Microbrand Monday Musings

I'm sure we all enjoy microbrands in some way or another. It occurs to me that many feel the barrier to trying/owning one is spending money on something "unproven" vs another mainstream brand.

The subject for today is the Jack Mason StratoTimer GMT. A 40mm Traveller's GMT with quick release bracelet and on-the-fly microadjust clasp. I've had the pleasure of spending time with the Pepsi and owning the Tango Mango.

So here's your chance to win their Espresso colorway in my Movember Charity Raffle!

I was really nervous when I ordered my Islander. I was worried the quality would suck, it would feel cheap. Instead, I love it, wear it all the time, and get great compliments. I am a total fan and as soon as the Port Jeff white dial is back in stock, I'm doing it.

Point is, most micro brands make quality products. Watch some reviews, ask around, but don't fear the it's a worse product

I kinda understand why some hesitate, but for me, micros are where it's at.

I like watches, don't necessarily buy EVERY style I like, but own a few...🤏🏻

Keep coming back to micros, oz for oz, best bang for buck. And I don't have to prove myself to some rando AD salesperson.

IMO I don't care a melted ice cream sandwich about "resale" or moving "up market", YMMV of course.

Also, means I can still slowly save up for my Bul Armory SAS II, Oracle 2311, SA Platypus, or Staccato....🤫😉👌🏻

I saw the StratoTimers at Intersect too and enjoyed talking to Peter, their founder and a fellow Texan. That was enough for me to go from almost buying it when being unable to see it in person to buying one at the event.

These Microbrand events are great because I always hesitate to spend more than $2-300 on a watch without being able to see them in person. Now I have to resist getting the Raven and Formex watches I also saw and tried on at Intersect.
